The legacy of Victorinox's Swiss Army Knives dates back to 1884, when Master Cutler Karl Elsener opened a cutlery shop in Ibach, Switzerland. Elsener and the cutlers union he formed produced the finest steel cutlery, featuring the now-famous proprietary edge preferred by professional and home cooks worldwide. In 1891, Elsener supplied the Swiss Army with its standard issue Soldiers Knife, followed by the Officers Knife in 1897.
In 1921, after the death of Elsener's mother, Victoria, and the advent of stainless steel (then known as "inoxydable"), Karl changed the company's name to Victorinox. This marked the humble beginnings of a worldwide icon.
Today, Victorinox remains owned and operated by the Elsener family, with both the company and the family still residing in the small Swiss village of Ibach.
To maintain the optimal performance of your Swiss Army Knife, follow these care tips: Sharpen the blades using a whetstone at a 15-20 degree angle, resulting in a 30-40 degree cutting edge. For cleaning, open and close the blades in warm water to prevent sticking, and apply a small drop of oil between the blade or tool shank and the spring. Avoid placing Swiss Army Knives in the dishwasher.
In summary, the RangerGrip 78 is a testament to Victorinox's enduring legacy of quality, durability, and versatility. Compact, agile, and ready to face any adventure, it is a reliable companion for all your daily tasks and a true icon of Swiss craftsmanship.
